A-LINE PROJECTOR GUIDE
Ultra Portable Projectors : sometimes called Micro Portables these are handy and lightweight projectors. Fantastic as a sales tool and on the move presentations, and portable enough to fit in a briefcase or bag!
Portable Projectors : Typically weighing 1.5-2.0kg with an A4 size 'footprint', Portables are bigger and brighter than Ultra machines. For true portability a projector needs to be quite robust, so many of these machines have tough magnesium or alloy cases. Great for training, boardrooms, classrooms and similar.
Desktop Projectors : The benefit here is maximum brightness for the larger audience. Typically weighing around 2.5-3.5kg these units are ideal for larger rooms, classrooms, training facilities or seminars.
Fixed Projectors : sometimes called Conference Projectors or Installation Projectors : The high end of the market place, these powerhouses are heavier - up to 6kg - but can produce incredible brightness with multiple inputs. Some also offer interchangeable lenses and all have higher resolutions. Suitable for large venues such as auditoriums, lecture theatres, conference rooms, simulators and control rooms and always requiring specialist installation.
Home Cinema Projectors : Machines built to display large movie size pictures at home via DVD and SKY, and for super large Gaming! A good installation is key here and often best left to the professionals.
Resolution : This refers to the clarity and sharpness of the picture - measured as the individual dots or blocks of colour that make up the image. The higher the number, the truer the projected image is to real life. It is crucial to ensure your chosen projector supports the resolution of the laptop(s) to which it will be connected.

DLP : Digital Light Processing: This uses mirrors to perfectly project light with 4 KEY ADVANTAGES over normal LCD types; Edge to edge brightness; colours are more vibrant; solid graphics do not pixelate and the machines are smaller and lighter.
LCD : Liquid Crystal Display: Proven technlogy and currently the worlds most popular system. This is a self-contained unit that combines one to three LCD panels and a light source for a projection device.
Brightness : The brightness of a Projector is measured in ANSI lumens. Advances in projection technology means the days of drawing blinds and turning the lights off are numbered; even micro portables machines of 1000 ANSI lumens provide successful projection, even in well lit rooms.
Weight : Often an important factor when choosing a projector because if you have to transport it via public transport, the units weight should be considered. We'll be happy to advise the best Projector for your needs.
